Remote xRay Exposure Switch Curly Cord Intermittent Hand Control

Why don't all x-rays come with the curly cord switch? I'm required to have one.

The answer is quite simple. Corded exposure switches are not recommended or legal in some states. Many installers prefer to hardwire xray exposure switches into the wall at a safe operator distance of over 9ft. away from the source of radiation.

That said,  there are safe practices for using corded xRay intermittent exposure switches.  You can read lots of good information about safe installations in this document published by the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. This document contains a checklist for evaluation radiation device quality control programs.

Additionally,  you can purchase a corded intermittent switch from a few supply warehouses.  This switch can expand up to 25ft. away from the source of radiation.
